Basil Malone Green, 83, of Gardner, Kansas passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. He will forever be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend to everyone he knew.
“Mal” as he was known by his family and friends was born on July 7, 1941 in Houston, Texas to William Hubert and Amy Evelyn (Pack) Green. He attended and graduated High School in Houston, Texas. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy. He earned his associates degree-attending school while in the Navy. Mal ended his full military career as a retired Navy Veteran.
Mal enjoyed fishing, walking along the beach and traveling to see the mountains. He enjoyed spending time with his family but nothing gave him more pleasure in life than the time he spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His favorite pastime was entertaining his family and friends singing Karaoke. He will be fondly missed for his love for his kids, his grandkids and great grandkids. He loved us all so very much. We all were his favorites. He will also be missed for his love for his country.
His parents William and Amy Green, two brothers Jack Green and Ray Green, and the mother of his children precede Mal in death. He is survived by his children, daughters Evelyn (Green) Alonzo of Gardner, Kansas, Debbie Gilliland and her husband David of Edgerton, Kansas, Jennifer Green of Springfield, Missouri, Michal (Green) of Rogers, Arkansas and son William (Willie) Green and his wife Windy formerly of VanBurin, Arkansas. Left behind to cherish his memory are his ten grandchildren Zakias Benter, Michael Benter, Josh Bates, Chelsey Gilliland, Destiny Busciglio (Joey), Shelly Applegate (Drannon), Vincent Carpenter, Haley Landis, Brandy Green (Kelton) and Joshua Green. Six great grandchildren Chrie, Sophia, Emma, Joseph, “Rio” and Lacey.
Graveside service 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2024 in Missouri Veterans Cemetery 5201 S. South Wood Road Springfield, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in “Loving Memory of Basil M. Green” can be made to the many charities he supported throughout his life. Shriners, Paralyzed Veterans, Tunnel to Towers Foundation, American Legion and VFW.
