William "Bill" Ralph Varner, 87, went home to be with the Lord on March 31, 2011. He was born April 25, 1923 in Oklahoma City to Nay and Beatrice (Slate) Varner.
Bill served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Missouri when it was commissioned and until the end of WWII. Bill also served as an Oklahoma City school teacher for 30 years and was a devoted Christian serving his Savior the Lord Jesus Christ since the age of 9. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Reva Jean; son Michael and wife Mary; son David and wife Becky; daughter Patricia Shelton and husband Dennis; daughter Mary Bickerstaff; son Stephen and wife Kelly. Bill is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 4, 2011 at the Dickson Baptist Church. Military honors follow at Arlington Memory Gardens in Midwest City, OK.
