William Everett Russell passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017 after a full and eventful 94 years. Born June 16, 1922, “Bill” was adopted by loving parents Mary and P.C. Russell who, along with their older daughter, Laura, made their home in Fort Worth, Texas. After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy where he became a pilot, proudly serving in the Pacific with Air Group 86. In 1948, Bill married his “darlin” wife, Nora Jean Hargus and completed his B.A. and Masters at Texas Christian University. Bill worked as a geologist for Texaco for some 30 years in Texas, New Mexico, and Tulsa, Oklahoma. After retiring from Texaco he continued in oil and gas exploration with his dear friends’ independent Woolsey Energy. After his second retirement, Bill and Jean moved to Oklahoma City to be near family and friends. Bill is survived by his wife Nora Jean; daughters Jan and Kim; son-in-law William D. Kelley; granddaughter Katherine Marie Kelley and sister-in-law Doris Williams. He is also survived by an enormously supportive contingent of nieces and nephews along with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Services to celebrate his life will be at 11a.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2017, in the chapel at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery; 13313 North Kelley Ave., OKC.Visitation will be held Friday, noon to 8 p.m.
