Wilburn F. Terrell, beloved husband, son brother, cousin, and friend passed away July 25, 2017. He was born to Frank and Anna (Powers) Terrell on January 24, 1927 in Anadarko, OK. He lived there only a short time. He grew up mainly in Carnegie, OK. He moved to OKC in 1942 and lived there the rest of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Jean (Herndon) Terrell, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters. He is survived by sister in law Joan Terrell, 4 nephews, 1 niece, several cousins and many friends’ also seven goddaughters.
Wilburn entered the Army for 21 months during World War II. He went in as Private and soon was promoted to Technical Sergeant. After returning from service he and Jean started dating again and were married Feb 2, 1948. They had a wonderful, happy and interesting marriage.
Wilburn retired from Tinker Air Force Base as a Section Chief in 1980 after 30 years of service. Wilburn and Jean belonged to several Methodist Churches. He was very active in each church. He was chair of the Official Board and Education Committee. He was a Sunday school enabler and played softball on several church teams and Tinker Field team for 20+ years. He and Jean were enablers for singles in the churches for 30 years, also hosting them in their home which they enjoyed and deeply cared for. Wilburn and Jean joined Surrey Hills Golf Club in 1989 where he enjoyed playing golf. They belonged to a Couples Golf Group that enjoyed many Golf Trips together as well as playing once a month together at Surrey Hills. They also enjoyed playing bridge with friends. Entombment will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 4 pm at Resthaven Memory Gardens. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Putnam City United Methodist Church at 10:30 am.
