Wilbur R. White, 86, passed away peacefully in his home on November 5, 2010. Wilbur was born June 20, 1924 in Huntsville, Texas to J. E. and Flora White. He was the youngest of 6 children. After graduating high school he served in the US Navy during World War II. He was a member of the first graduating class of Petroleum Engineers from the University of Houston in 1949. Moving his family to Oklahoma City in 1968, he shortly thereafter founded Wilbur R. White Oil Enterprises. He was well known and respected as an independent producer in the oil and gas community. He enjoyed traveling the world and sharing stories with family and friends from his many international trips. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister and four brothers. He is loved and will be missed by: wife, Linda; son and daughter in law, Lloyd and Carie; grandchildren, Dara Steward and her husband Ryan, Amanda White, and Marsha White; two great grandsons, Evan Steward and Eli Steward; many nieces and nephews, Vickie who served as his secretary for 37 years, faithful care givers, friends and the “old Dooley’s crowd”. Visitation and reception for family and friends will be held at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Directors in Oklahoma City on Monday, November 8, 2010 from 6 to 7:30 PM. Funeral service will be Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the chapel at Hahn-Cook. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park, Oklahoma City.
