Vera Virginia Vasicek Novotny, 86, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, has left her mark on this world as she was called home on Wednesday, March 6, 2019. Vera was born March 22, 1932, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was cherished by her parents Chrales Vasicek and Helen Josephine Dolezal Vasicek. Vera enjoyed her childhood with her loving siblings Evelyn and Eugene.
Vera was swept off her feet in 1951 by Paul Novotny and his Taylorcraft. They married in 1952 and enjoyed 51 years together. They had two sons and three grandchildren, to whom Vera was especially devoted. She always encouraged and supported their travels and education.
She was an avid antiquer and expert bargain hunter. Vera loved to decorate and dabbled in crafts, but by far, her favorite pastime was her flower garden. She was also proud to have completed the confirmation program at St. Francis of Assisi, where she was a faithful member.
Vera is preceded in death by husband, Paul Novotny; her parents, Charles and Helen Vasicek; brother Eugene Vasicek; sister Evelyn Ellsworth; brother-in-law George Pellar; brother-in-law Earl (Bud) Ellsworth; and son Michael Novotny.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth Novotny and wife, Laurie Novotny of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Cindy Novotny-Sieber and husband, Tim Sieber; grandchildren, Amy Huff and husband Joe, Jeff Novotny, Jon Novotny and wife Kristin; seven great grandchildren, Michael Blaesing, Emily and Joshua Huff, Conan Novotny, and Vera, Helen, and Frances Novotny; and one great great grandchild, Mason Blaesing, arriving in June.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 11, 2019 from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Graveside services for Vera will be Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
