Thomas Ray Carden

Tom was born in Astoria, OR to John T Carden and Shirley L Matteson Carden. He attended Warrenton High School, and eventually graduated from South Broward High School in Florida. He enlisted in the US Air Force soon after graduating from High School and specialized in compressed gas manufacturing. He was then deployed to South Korea. After leaving the Air Force, he had various jobs which included compressed gas, commercial fishing, and trucking management in Oregon, Washington, and Alaska. He was previously married to Mary Ann Massey, and Carol Ann Lee and had four children. In 1989, he moved to Oklahoma City and settled down with Judy Carden where he eventually retired from Dayton Tire.

Tom was a fun loving and warm man who touched many lives. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his children and friends and shared his love for the outdoors while mentoring several boys with Troop 47 in Oklahoma City. He played football and baseball in High School, and enjoyed playing golf in his later years. He adored all the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He never passed up an opportunity to tease poor Judy just to make his grandchildren laugh.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife Judy Carden whom he married on April 29th 1989. Tom is also survived by many children and grandchildren; his oldest daughter Tina Johnson, her husband Chris and their daughter Tess Johnson. Daughter Pamela Carden and her child Jak Kroeger, son Corey Carden, his wife Katrina, and their children Lily Carden, Michael Carden and Hannah Carden, his youngest daughter Catherine Gonzalez, his step daughter Cheryl DeWitt and her children Emily DeWitt, Patrick DeWitt, and Curtis DeWitt, his grandchildren Melissa Hayslip, Byron Bailey, and his Great-grandchildren Hannah Hayslip and Phoenix Day. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his step-daughter Paula Williamson Bailey.

Tom’s memorial service will be held at Southern Hills United Methodist Church at 8200 S Pennsylvania in Oklahoma City at 2:00pm.
