The Right Reverend D. Bruce MacPherson

The Rt. Rev D. Bruce MacPherson, retired 3rd bishop of Western Louisiana passed away on December 21, 2017 at 77 years of age. He was suddenly diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, and began receiving hospice care at his home in Edmond, OK.

He was born in Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada, and moved to the United States in his teen years. Prior to entering the ministry, Bishop MacPherson was in corporate management and then felt a strong calling into the ministry in the Episcopal Church. He entered the School of Theology (Bloy House) in Claremont, California. He started out in parish ministry and then moved on to serve as Canon to the Ordinary in Los Angeles, CA.

He was then called to be Canon of the Ordinary of Dallas TX, and ultimately was elected Suffragan Bishop in Dallas, TX. He was elected 3rd bishop of Western Louisiana and retired ten years later. He was invited by Fr. Patrick Bright of Nichols Hills, OK to serve at All Souls' Episcopal Church.

Bishop MacPherson served on many national and local committees.

Following his retirement Bishop MacPherson and Susan moved to Edmond, OK.

He is survived by his wife Susan of 59 years, two daughters Bonnie and her husband David, Heather and her husband Damon, four granddaughters Kierra and her husband Kevin, Taylor, Erika and Claire, two step grandsons Michael and John and three great grandchildren, Oliver, Cole and Paisley Sue.

In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in memory of Bishop MacPherson to All Souls' Episcopal Church youth program.

A requiem mass will be held on Saturday December 30, 2017 at 2:00pm at All Souls Episcopal Church. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of his great physicians at Integris for their amazing care & compassion. Thank you Dr. Self, Dr. Clapp and Dr. Theobald
