Rosetta (Stewart) Smith passed away on, July 24, 2020. She was born on September 3, 1926, in Stigler, Oklahoma, and was the oldest of six children; born to parents William Arthur Stewart and Della May (Freeman) Stewart.
She was baptized in Belle Isle Lake because she “felt closer to God out in nature.” Rosetta finished the eighth grade and at the age of 15 married Delbert Lee Smith. Rosetta and Delbert had seven children together, Delbert Jr., Beverly, Raymond, Rozella, Troy, Mark, and Ardina. Rosetta took pride in staying home and caring for them until Ardina was in the fifth grade. She worked as a waitress, a housekeeper at Oklahoma Christian Home and at Kimray until she retired. She was a member of the Rebekah’s and the VFW Auxiliary. Rosetta also enjoyed softball, reading and embroidery.
Rosetta is preceded in death by her mother, Della May (Freeman) Stewart; father, William Arthur Stewart; loving husband, Delbert Lee Smith; daughter-in-law, Patricia Jean Smith; son, Mark Sheldon Smith; and four brothers.
Rosetta is survived by sons, Delbert Lee Smith Jr., of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Raymond Wayne Smith and wife, Tommie Jo, of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Troy D. Smith and wife, Susan Modell, of Edmond, Oklahoma; daughters, Beverly Jo Milam and husband William Odel of Edmond, Oklahoma, Rozella Ann Powell and John Lee (Jack) of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Ardina May Anderson of Edmond, Oklahoma; sister, Mayetta Enid Freeman of Piedmont, Oklahoma; sisters-in-law, Shirley Stewart of Cashion, Oklahoma; Carol Stewart of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and Wanda Bishop of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Rosetta also leaves behind sixteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews to cherish her memory.
A visitation for Rosetta will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family receiving guests from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home at 8701 N.W. Expressway in Oklahoma City. A funeral service for her will be held in honor of Rosetta on Friday, July 31, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home.
