after a brief illness. A memorial service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church
at 4:00 p.m., on Wednesday, May 4, 2011.
She was born in Yuma, Colorado on April 5, 1921, the first of nine children of Robert
Roy Williams and Myrtle Kates Williams. She grew up on farms in Nebraska until her
family moved to Boise, Idaho.
In 1943 she married Joe K. Jackson from Temple, Oklahoma, an Air Force Lieutenant.
She then moved to be near his family, working in aircraft assembly at Douglas Aircraft
near Tinker Field, while he served in the South Pacific.
After the war, they moved to Norman, Oklahoma and then settled in Oklahoma City.
They owned retail furniture stores on West Reno and then on SW 29th Street. Roberta
worked at the store, raised their three children, and was active in Cub Scouts and PTA
and was a Girl Scout leader. She was a member of the Embroiders' Guild and enjoyed
needlework, reading, and her family.
She was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, teaching Sunday
School and Bible School, and serving as a deacon. She and her husband Joe delivered
Meals on Wheels for many years. She was a volunteer at the Presbyterian Urban
Mission.
Her community involvement and willingness to take leadership in the organizations she
supported has been an inspiring legacy to her children and friends.
She is survived by her sisters, Violet Benn and Mary Monson; her brother Jerry Williams,
her children Ken Jackson, Nancy Dawson, and Laurel Richardson; seven grandchildren,
and two great grandchildren.
