Robert R. Spears Born in Oklahoma City to Christine and Ralph Spears, Bob and his brother Jim were raised by their grandmother Vesta and aunt Doty. He went to Edgemere Elementary and graduated from Central High School. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Marines. He later went to Oklahoma City University where he earned his undergraduate degree and subsequently his Juris Doctorate. Dad was insurance executive with Globe Life, American Defender Life, and others. He was a gifted public speaker and writer. Bob was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church where he loved being the boys’ softball coach in the 60s and was in the Bow Knots. Dad was a devoted & loving husband to his wife of 44 years, Virginia, who survives him. Together they lived in Raleigh, NC; Tampa, FL; Baton Rouge, LA; Dallas, TX and back home to OKC where he passed away peacefully on April 22. He and his sweetheart enjoyed concerts, dining out, and spending time at home or anywhere else, as long as they were together. A loving father to his 4 children Kathy, Stan (Becky), Janet (Charles) and Leslie (Ralph), he also adored his grandchildren Lauren (Corey) and Anna, and his great grandchildren Callie, Austin, Jax and Kason. He was very fond of Virginia’s son, Craig Simms, and adored Virginia’s grandchildren Carrie (Brian) and Sean (Amy), and Carrie’s children, Ciara and Savannah. Dad is also survived by his brother Jim (Kathy). Bob liked gardening. He was meticulous and now we can confirm, an extraordinarily organized person. Thank you dad! He always cracked corny jokes, always called for birthdays, loved dining out and always befriended the servers by asking their name then calling them by name at every opportunity. Bob was always positive and optimistic, with a smile on his face. Bob Spears was a very kind, sweet, gentle man.
