Coach Bob Malloy, who after several years we affectionately called “The Colonel”, was the first truly great coach I ever had. Dealing with me in 7th, 8th and 9th grade golf was no easy task, but the wisdom and care he always showed me formed the man I am. Then as a sophomore teaching biology and coaching football I like to believe we developed a friendship. The Colonel was one of the truly funniest men I have known, with an almost deviate sense of humor. If he liked you, you got the arm around the shoulder smell of Folgers coffee and Skoal wintergreen snuff on his breath and he would either impart a life lesson beginning with “Hotrod”  that I still cherish or he would say the absolutely most hysterical observation of something or someone. It never failed, every time he spoke he would invoke happiness in all those who truly knew him. I will cherish the time I got to spend with him. Riding shotgun at 5 am to golf tournaments, buses on the way home from a football win, the time I spent hanging out in his classroom when I didn’t want to attend another. My sincerest condolences to all of family, friends, former students, former players and everyone else who’s life was improved by Bob Malloy. He was truly one of a kind and the world is less bright without The Colonel in it! To all his loved ones and all the ones who loved him, I’m so deeply sorry for your loss.

I was blessed in high school to have both Coach Malloy as my football coach and Jane as my senior English teacher. Coach was a role model to me and an example of leadership that I think on often. He always had high expectations and you always knew he cared. He worked to get the best out of us.  It was a great feeling when you knew he was proud of you. Coach Malloy impacted so many kids. My deepest sympathies to his family.

Coach Malloy was an outstanding person, teacher and coach. 
I spent a lot of time with coach in the classroom, through numerous golf seasons  (7th - 12th grade) and on the football field in Shawnee. I'll always remember  him telling us the Bobby Jones quote: “Competitive golf is played mainly on a five-and-a-half-inch course, the space between your ears.” Coach preached mental toughness and because of him, that's something I'm teaching my young son now. I just know he's on the first tee in heaven with that stoic stare looking down the fairway knowing he'll make birdie. I'll miss you Coach Malloy. 

To Jane and Family: I'm so sorry for your loss, but I'm so thankful that you shared this wonderful man with us. He will always have a special place in my heart.

Coach Malloy was the best combination of teacher, mentor and coach there ever was.   From golf to football to biology, he was a constant for me through out my formidable years in Shawnee.  My fondest memories are in the classroom where he fostered my interest in becoming a doctor through multiple dissections and learning about DNA as we turned his classroom into a cell.  He pushed us and expected more out of us in class and on the field than we knew we were capable of. He made us better and for that I am thankful. Rest easy coach. 

I taught school with Bob when he was at Walters, OK in the 70s. He and my husband Bill were scoutmasters for a BoyScout troop. He was a dedicated teacher and coach, and I extend our condolences. I have posted details of his obituary on Facebook at two private groups, Blue Devil Alumni and Walters Then and Now. Bill and I are at high risk regarding Covid-19 and will not be able to attend his service.

Bob was a good man,a good teacher and a coach who truly cared about his students.He definitely is gone too soon.Prayers for his family and friends.

Bob is a great example of how a man should be. He was a great husband to Jane, a father to my wife, Amy, and the best Poppie that our daughters, Madie and Sky, could have asked for. He only got to spend a short time with his great-grandson, Madden, but through our stories and memories, Madden will know him well. His love for God, family, and country, is how I will always remember him.

Coach was one of the best coaches I had in high school.   He taught us a lot about self discipline and never quitting.   He was a heck of a track coach!!!!

Bob was a great friend and colleague.  I can think of so many stories and memories that were created while we worked together.   When you teach and coach with someone as long as we did together that person becomes like a brother to you.   I am grateful for the opportunity of knowing Bob and seeing the influence he had on so many.  "Burn a hole in em"

Poppie was an amazing husband to my Nana, amazing grandfather to me and my sister, amazing step father to my mom, and the greatest role model to everyone. He was a cowboy, pokes fan, Army Veteran, teacher, coach, but to me he was all of that and more. He was so strong during his battle and never showed us sadness, only happiness and gratefulness and so much love for God. We are all going to miss him more than anything, but I know so strongly in my heart that he is somewhere so much more beautiful and he will be waiting for us. I’m so thankful that he got to be my Poppie my whole life, I couldn’t even begin to tell people how amazing he made our lives. Anyone that knew him was a lucky person. Rest In Peace, Poppie. I’ll see you again

Bob was a teacher first and a great coach. He touched so many lives during his time at Shawnee High School. Jane, I am so sorry. I pray that you have God's love and peace during this difficult time.

Dear Jane, 
       We were so sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. We were lucky that Beau and Blake had him as a science teacher, golf coach, and football coach. He was a truly great role model for them and so many young men. 
I enjoyed teaching with you both and always enjoyed coaching golf with Bob. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers.
