She was born in Drumright, Okla. to Charles David McIlwain and Lutie Louise McIlwain. While attending Oklahoma A&M she met the love of her life, Raymond Gregory. They married on March 11, 1949. From this union they had two children, Jon Edmond and Mary Carol. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, her son, Jon, her parents, and siblings, William McIlwain, Robert McIlwain, and Mary Ruth Uptegraft. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Carol Deaton and husband, Alan; grandsons, Chad Deaton, wife Alicia and their sons, Harris and Colin; Taylor Deaton, wife Katie and their sons, Tucker and Archer.
Rebecca "Becky" was an elementary counselor for over 30 years in OKCPS. She loved children and did anything she could to help them succeed. She was, also, a reading specialist. She was a charter member of the OKC AFT (American Federation of Teachers). She loved to read and was interested in politics. She was a mentor and mother to many. She loved life! She was a member of the Village United Methodist Church for over 60 years.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 1:00pm at the Village United Methodist Church 2501 W. Britton Rd., Oklahoma CIty, Okla. 73120. Inurnment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 13400 N. Kelley Ave, Oklahoma City, Okla. 73131.
