Paul Alexander Pendleton

Paul graduated from Enid High School and went on to attend college at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. He joined the Army National Guard of Oklahoma serving three years from 1962-65.

Paul had a God given talent of art. He started at a very young age. At the age of six, he was featured in the newspaper for creating a large chalk mural in elementary school. Some of his art pieces such “Revolution” (inspired by the movie Dr. Zhivago), “November Rain”, “The Old Munk”, and “Christ the Savior” were just a few that have been copyrighted and sold. Paul’s uncle, Larry A. Pendleton Sr. was an accomplished artist as well and signed his artwork with “Pendleton” In order not to conflict his uncles’ paintings, Paul signed his art with “A. pen” (Alexander Pendleton). However in later years he began signing “Pendleton” with the year or simply “Pendleton”.

Paul was a staple in the Commercial Art world in Oklahoma City, starting at Globe Color press, and eventually started A. Pen Graphic Illustration & Design. Paul had done work in the seventies for movie studios, major corporations including McDonald’s for artwork in creating the McDonald’s Playgrounds, and the Dallas Cowboy Happy Meal Special Edition boxes.

Paul was married to Janice Pendleton in December of 1981 until her death in October 2022. They were married for 41 years.

He is survived by his son Shawn Pendleton and wife Mandy Joe Pendleton of Tahlequah, OK; grandchildren Brytanni Nicole Dabbs of Broken Arrow, OK; great grandchildren Darcy Jene and Jaxson Cole of Broken Arrow, OK; and his sister Jane Weaver and husband Lee Weaver of Ft. Worth, Texas.

A service to celebrate Paul’s life will be at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
