Olive Reba Wright, 88, died peacefully Monday, June 7, 2010 at Bradford Village Nursing Home in Edmond, Ok. Her parents, Noah and Anna Watkins gave birth to Olive in Cleveland, TN on May 25, 1922. Olive married her childhood sweetheart, Jack Wright, and they moved to California to raise their three children. Once the children left the nest, Olive returned to school to earn her AA degree in Para-medicine.
After Jack’s death in 1982, Olive moved to Edmond, Oklahoma to join her daughter and son-in-law. Although she disliked the weather, she made a happy home among the friendly community of Edmond. She became an active member of Edmond Church of Christ, where she made many lasting friends. She spent her later years actively collecting teapots and porcelain dolls, traveling and quilting.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Wright and her son David Wright. She is survived by her youngest son, Stephen Wright; her daughter and son-in-law Linda and Allen Morgan; her 8 grandchildren; and her 4 great grandchildren.
She will be sorely missed by her surviving family for whom she was a shining light-providing lots of love and laughter in each of their lives.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 11, 2010, at Memorial Park Historic Chapel, 13313 N. Kelley Ave., Oklahoma City, Okla., with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be a reception in the chapel following the service. Visitation for Olive will be held from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home, with family to receive guests from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
