Michael Stewart Wilson (“Mike”) died on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 in Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri, following a two-week hospital stay from end-stage COPD complications. Mike was born on December 7, 1939 in Oklahoma City to Dorothy Gene (Stewart) Wilson and Murle Rothford Wilson. He was a proud Oklahoma City resident for 79 ½ years, until his recent move to Springfield, Missouri in July 2019. Mike was a 1958 graduate of Northwest Classen High School where he was a member of the Delta Sigma fraternity. After a one-year stint at Oklahoma City University, Mike attended Central State College where he graduated with a Bachelor of Art degree in 1963. There he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. On October 23, 1964, Mike married his high school sweetheart, Donna June Blakey. They were happily married for just one month shy of 43 years when Donna passed away in September 2007. Mike served his country as a six-year member of the Air National Guard branch of the United States Air Force until he was honorably discharged in 1969. Mike was the General Manager of GRC Supply, Inc. for 23 years. Following his time at GRC, he was a sales representative for Sooner Printing Company for about 20 years. Mike was a very gifted artist and an avid bird watcher. Survivors include his daughter Tara Horton, son-in-law Rick and grandchildren, Ryan & Hope (all of the home), his brother Don Wilson and his wife Jane, along with two more sisters-in-law, Dorenda Malcolm and Danya Bruza and her husband Raymond, as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, four grandparents, six in-laws, his wife and his sister Nancy Gene (Wilson) Grant. Mike was the most kind and gentle soul with a fantastic smile and sense of humor. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Rose Hill Burial Park.
