“MJ” as she was known to everyone was born May 4, 1947 in Garnett, Kansas to Earl and Jean Brooks. MJ grew up in Garnett and graduated with the class of 1965. Shortly after graduation MJ married Jess Sayler. Two beautiful daughters were born from that marriage, Michelle (Shel) Dolph and Barbara (Bobbi) Brady. MJ and her two daughters moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma in 1975 and MJ became the first female police officer on the department. On October 22, 1984 while attending a police school at the O.C.P.D training center MJ met Norm Cook. They were married on June 22, 1985. Putting the two families together was challenge, but MJ would always say, “I’ll be alright.” The four girls, Amy, 11, Dawn, 14, Bobbi, 15 and Shell, 16 years of age did provide some challenges for us, but we all survived. MJ got to enjoy her 4 daughters, 4 son-in-laws and 13 grandchildren. MJ loved going to church, she was a hugger and wanted to touch or hug everybody at church or in Sunday School. MJ loved music and was usually the first person standing with raised arms praising her savior, Jesus. I will miss that for sure. Part of MJ’s job at O.S.B.I was to locate, find and return missing and exploited children to their parents. MJ had some interesting stories of how sometimes she would be able to track down the person who had stolen a child. Sometimes all she could do was listen and comfort the parent. She was a good listener. On April 14, 2013 at OU Medical Center, MJ passed from this life into the arms of her savior Jesus. Thanks to Doctors Johnny McMinn, Jennifer Holter and George Selby for your help and support over the past 18 months. A special thanks to all the cancer nurses and techs at Baptist Integris and OU Medical Center for your tender loving care, MJ loved you all. We miss her greatly, but have the hope and promise from God’s word that we will be together again in glory. Loving you, Honey – Mom - Mem
