It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Olivia Yolanda Lucero, 51, of Edmond, Oklahoma, who passed away on March 26, 2025. Maria was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter whose spirit and love will forever be missed by all who knew her.
Born on November 24, 1973, in Amarillo, Texas, Maria was known for her infectious energy, free spirit, and her deep love for her family. A true "wildflower," Maria lived life on her own terms, always marching to the beat of her own drum. She was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren, finding joy in their accomplishments and in the moments they shared together. Maria's warmth, sense of humor, and generosity of heart were qualities that drew others to her, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter.
Maria was preceded in death by her grandparents Gabriel Romero Sustaita, Maria Sustaita; Patsy Davis; and her uncle Edward Sustaita.
Maria is survived by her mother, Blanca Sustaita of Southaven, Mississippi; her son Domingo Lucero of Midwest City, Oklahoma; her daughters Desiree Montoya of Edmond, Oklahoma, and De'Nayzha Havenridge and her husband Sean of Melbourne, Florida; and former son in law Branden Montgomery of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her grandsons Domingo Lucero Jr., Ismael Lucero, Rowen Montgomery, and Cash Montgomery; her sister Anna Jasso and her husband David of Corpus Christi, Texas; her brother Manuel Lucero of Southaven, Mississippi; and her brother Pablo Elizalde Jr. of Odessa, Texas. Additionally, she is survived by numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family who will miss her dearly.
A private service will be held in her honor.
Maria's memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She was truly a beautiful wildflower, and her legacy of love and laughter will continue to bloom in the lives of those she touched.
