As a graduate of McGuiness High School in OKC, he attended OCC and OCU, served for the United States Air Force Reserves and retired from South Western Bell on December 26, 1987 with 31 years of service in the engineering field. Following retirement he enjoyed working on his property, family, serving on the Board of Directors with the Woodcrest Fire Department in his Logan County community, GC&E Railroad Commission while serving his true passion with several municipal and county agencies in law enforcement.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Lee Kapraun, Father Edward Kapraun, Mother Julia Ann Kapraun and Brother Donald Kapraun.
Surviving immediate relatives include: Son’s - Leon E. Kapraun Jr. (Guthrie, OK.), William E. Kapraun (Guthrie, OK.), and Daughter’s – Kathy Jaudon Kapraun (Argyle, TX.), Julia Renee’ Bondurant (Arlington, TX.) and Sister Marilyn Blackburn (Oklahoma City, OK.), nieces and nephews.
Grandchildren include: Kayla VanWinkle (Hemphill, TX.), Kelly Clark (Hemphill, TX.), Shannon Barnes, Christina Barnes, Tanya Barnes (deceased), Amos Barnes, Dakota Kapraun-Howard and six great grandchildren.
In lieu of floral considerations, in memory of Leon, on behalf of his son William E. Kapraun, construction will be starting soon for a new group home facility to benefit disabled persons. Memorials may be made to Westview Cottages PO Box 370 Guthrie, OK. 73044.
Viewing to be held on Friday October 26, 2018 from 3-6pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 27, 2018 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in the Daily Mass Chapel. Graveside service to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
