Larry Dean White, of Newcastle, Oklahoma, passed away at home on January 26, 2022. He entered this world September 4, 1948 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, one of six children, born to Jessie Oliver and Mary Eleanor (Earhart) White.
Larry married the love of his life Mary Ann Guinn-White on April 14, 1980, and they have been happily married for the past 41 years.
Larry retired from Citgo, after working 30 years as a forklift operator.
Larry had a boundless curiosity which fed his love of reading and learning. His favorite genres were sci-fi and fantasy, but he enjoyed reading and discussing all things WWII.
He wanted his children to know the importance of education and dedicated countless hours to receive his Bachelor’s Degree in addition to being a full-time father. Larry was a loyal and dedicated worker. He often held two jobs providing for his family. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and honored to be a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Association.
Larry is a marine sergeant, and as anyone who has talked with a marine knows “once a marine, always a marine”. He served his country with multiple tours in Vietnam and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. Larry was known as a determined and committed man who sacrificed much for his family and country, a true patriot.
On a perfect day for Larry you would find him fishing, traveling, reading a good book, or sharing a story about his youth or military experiences. Nothing made him laugh harder than pestering his bride. He loved to see Mary flush with irritation or blush from a public display of affection. You would often find him playing music by Marty Robbins, Johnny Horton, and various Cadence songs as he drove the family on a forgotten road during one of his spontaneous road trips.
Larry was a wonderful and patient father who taught his children the value of a strong work ethic, the honor of one’s word, and patriotism. He always had time to talk and was always present. He put his family first and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He and his wife, Mary, taught his blended family love does not distinguish genetic differences. He raised 5 children with his wife as one family unit without apology. He was a role model for so many in his life. His nephews would often call him for advice, or a chat, or just to listen to what Uncle Larry had to say that day.
He is preceded in death by both parents and siblings; Jessie O. White Jr., Jimmy White, and Helen Kever.
Larry is survived by his wife Mary Ann Guinn-White; sisters Betty White of Del City, OK and Mary Duke and husband Ray of Hot Springs, AR; children Larry Oliver White and wife Jennifer of Calais, ME, Daniel Remington and wife Kindle of Goldsby, Dana Ruimveld and husband Bradley of Mustang, OK, Matthew White, Paul White and wife Jennifer of Oklahoma City, OK; and his special grandchildren Caleb, Candace, Robyn, Austin, Gavin, Ashton, Hannah, Isabella, Emily, and Benjamin; and many loved nieces and nephews.
Larry’s family would like to extend their gratitude to Bryan Rich, his caregiver from MHICM of the OKC VA Hospital.
