L. Dean Clements, age 70, passed away on March 16, 2012. He was born in Mt. Vernon, OH, on December 24, 1941, to the late Thelma Rison Clements and Bryan Kay Clements. He was a resident of Edmond, OK since 2001. Mr. Clements was the beloved husband of Bonnie Burkhart Clements. He is survived by Bonnie; one son, Steven Clements of Sunbury, OH; two daughters, Suzanne Clements Black of Blanchard, OK and Lynn Clements of Marietta, GA; two grandsons, Mason Black, and Taylor Holland; two granddaughters, Madison Black and Amanda McCarty, and four great-granddaughters. Mr. Clements was a contact lens specialist who joined Bausch & Lomb’s original US and worldwide tour introducing the new Soflens. He pioneered the formation of the ophthalmic advisory panels for B&L, and was a lecturing expert on proper use and fitting of contacts. He pioneered a contact lens manufacturing lab in 1985 and was honored as a lifetime member of the Ohio Association of Opticians. He was also an active member of the Sunbury Lions Club in Sunbury, OH until 2001, receiving a national award for his work to promote healthy eyesight. The family would like to express their appreciation to the Oklahoma City Mercy Hospital, Hospice program, staff, and nurses for their support and loving care. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in his name may be sent to the New Covenant United Methodist Church for the Next Step Children’s building project at 2700 South Boulevard, Edmond, OK 73013.
