Keith Ellis Cagle was born on Nov. 17, 1946 in Shawnee, OK to I.B. and Lillie Bell (Melot) Cagle. He graduated from John Marshall High School with the Class of 1964. Following his graduation he attended UCO in pursuit of a Business degree. In May of 1966 Keith enlisted in the US Air Force and was stationed at Norton AFB in San Bernardino. He spent time serving as the assistant to the base commander at Da-nang Air Force Base in Vietnam.
Following his honorable discharge in 1970, Keith returned to Oklahoma and began a lifelong career in sales. In the mid 1980’s he earned his insurance license and from 1987 to 2003 he operated the very successful Keith Cagle Insurance Agency serving Moore and S. OKC. In 2005, Keith married the love of his life Sandy Wachtel. They met at St. Andrew and had been friends for many years. Keith and Sandy made many wonderful memories together during their 15 years of marriage. Keith was a wonderful husband and always did his best to make her his top priority.
Keith’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. He was a devout Catholic with a sacred commitment to serving his church. During his 30+ years at St. Andrew Keith was instrumental in setting up the St. Vincent Thrift Store. He was also the Past President of St. Vincent De Paul and a 42nd degree member of The Knights of Columbus. Keith was also a proud member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation where he was the Past Commander of the Citizen Potawatomi Veterans. Keith’s Potawatomi name was White Eagle.
Keith was a jovial man who made it a goal to bring joy and laughter to others. When he was not working or serving at St. Andrew, Keith enjoyed golfing, supporting his OU Sooner Football team, going out to eat, and eating root beer floats or snow cones. He was never happier than when he was surrounded by his family and he loved attending his grandchildren’s school and athletic events. Keith had a beautiful smile that lit up every room he walked in to. He inspired so much joy and passion in those he was close to and he will truly be missed by all who knew him.
