On December 24th, 2017 John Wesley Hanes, age 63, passed away after a 2 ½ year battle with cancer. John was a resident of Moore, Oklahoma and was married to Barbara Gail Hanes. John was born in Oklahoma City to John Woodrow and Anna Belle Hanes. He graduated from Bethany Public Schools in 1972 and was an active alumni. At the age of 19, he began his career as a commercial truck driver and continued this until he retired in 2015. He worked for companies such as Scrivner, Freymiller and Tyson Foods and loved driving cross-country. At one point, his wife, Barbara, joined him on the truck and they drove as a team. He was also known to take his dog Buddy with him on several occasions when Barbara could no longer accompany him. John was a passionate person and did everything with purpose. He loved spending time with his family, supporting OU football, following Thunder Basketball and watching his grandchildren participate in sporting events and other activities. He also loved fishing, tinkering in his shed and working on cars. John is preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna Hanes and older brother, Jim Hanes. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Gail Hanes (Moore), son Shane Hanes (Yukon), daughters Summer Wetwiska (Oklahoma City) and Heather Martinez (Yukon), step-sons Mark and Steven White and step-daughter Jamie Gilbert (all of Moore), 16 grandchildren, brothers Don and Howard Hanes and sister Pat Boyer (all of Yukon).
