Joe Frank Shriver, 84, of Warr Acres was welcomed into Heaven on Saturday, June 16, 2012. He was born August 18, 1927 in Oklahoma City to Robert Jacob and Ruth (McClure) Shriver. Joe was a very kind, gentle man who loved his family, friends and LORD. He graduated from Putnam City High School in 1945. He served in the United States Army from 1946 to 1947. He then worked as a dispatcher for OG&E for 39 years and retired in 1987. He was a Boy Scout and leader for his sons. His service to others included working for Mobile Meals and repairing bicycles for the Skyline Ministry to donate to underprivileged children. He was also an umpire for 50 years. He loved camping, traveling, hunting, fishing, boating and gardening. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Earline Sue (Oard) Shriver of the home; two sons, Randy Joe and wife Becky of Bethany and Gary and wife Lesa of Cashion; four grandsons, Shawn and wife Mary of Chickasha, Richard and wife Stephanie of Bethany, Ryan and wife Ashley of Oklahoma City, and Rusty of Bethany; two granddaughters, Tawnya and husband John Woodworth of Yukon and Leslee and husband Daniel Baker of Yukon; three great-grandchildren, Makayla Shriver, Gage Shriver and Grant Woodworth; one sister, Ruth Ann Ferguson and husband Jack of Oklahoma City; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Putnam City United Methodist Church with services under the direction of Guardian Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mobile Meals, Boy Scouts or Skyline Ministry.
