Jane Powers passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2019 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and spent Christmas in heaven with her husband of 63 years, Bill Powers. She was born in Childress, TX on August 26, 1936.
Jane graduated high school in Denton, TX where her father owned and operated North Texas Electric. She attended Texas Woman’s University where she earned her MRS when she married Bill in the Little Chapel In-the-Woods on campus on November 10, 1956. She was the most beautiful bride. After her first child was born in 1957, she stayed busy raising a family of four children in Texas, Arizona and Oklahoma.
During her 83 years on earth, she never met a stranger and treated her friends like family. Though, 83 was NOT her age: she was only fifty + 33. On her fiftieth birthday, her granddaughter exclaimed, “No one should ever be older than fifty!” She decided that was correct and was never a day over fifty. Her family simply celebrated the anniversary of her fiftieth each year.
She was known for her love of reading, always wearing the same shade of pink nail polish, being a wonderful hostess and making her signature dishes: caesar salad and meatloaf. She enjoyed playing cards with her family; particularly spite and malice. Ever the social butterfly, she was beloved by her Quail Ridge family and stayed active in many activities including: bingo, bridge, crafts, parties and bible study. Her favorite events were the live music of Gathan Graham and June Carter.
Jane is survived by her daughter, Malyn Powers, son, William Shelby “Tracy” Powers, III and his wife, Debbie, daughter, Laura Ann Powers and son, Patrick Adam Powers. Her seven grandchildren; Nicole Powers, Cara Ann Powers and her fiancé, Kris Afflerbaugh, Brittany Massengale, Adam Shelby Powers and his wife Alexa, William Shelby Powers, IV, Westlee Powers, and Kallie Jane Powers, as well as one great grandson, Silas William Afflerbaugh, nieces, nephews and a host of friends who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Shelby “Bill” Powers, Jr., her parents, Raymond Anthony and Edna Earle Wood Pittman, and sisters Beverly, Ramona, Enid and Evelyna.
