James was born in Coalgate, OK, the son of Arthur Baxter and Josie Ozella (Armbrister) Ogle. He graduated from Atoka High School in 1963. James served 6 years in the 45th infantry of the Army National Guard. He was a beloved barber for over 55 years. James worked alongside his late brother, Clyde Ogle, at Springdale Barber Shop in North OKC for many years. He ended his barbering career at South Park Barber Shop in South OKC, where he worked alongside his sister, Betty Jo English and nieces and nephew.
James enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing slot machines at the casino, spending time with his grandkids and family, watching Wheel of Fortune and the Price is Right. He never met a stranger and loved telling stories and jokes to anyone and everyone he met. James was a very wise man and always had a thing or two he could teach you.
He is survived by his wife Elaine Ogle of Oklahoma City, OK, son Bradley Arthur Ogle and his wife Angie of Yukon, OK, daughter Jennifer Whitsitt and her husband Bryan of Oklahoma City, OK, grandchildren, Kaitlyn Brown, Maddie Ogle, Bodie Ogle and Bailey Whitsitt, sister Betty Jo English of Edmond, OK and countless nieces, nephews and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Baxter and Josie Ozella Ogle, siblings, Lucile Watkins, Myrtle Walkup, Gladys Coffey, Ola Faye Cook, Erma Lee Lange, Glenndean Ennis, Merle Henderson, Melvin Ogle, Claude Ogle, Clyde Ogle and Lewis Ogle.
Come-and-go visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services, 7720 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Oklahoma City, OK 73159. The family will be receiving friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at the Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel with burial to follow to Resthaven Cemetery, 500 SW 104th St, Oklahoma City, OK 73139.
