James Richard "Rick" Jackson, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. Our wonderful father left this earth August 28th, 2024 to join the love of his life, Johni Pauline Jackson in heaven. Rick was born March 1, 1941 in Cushing, Oklahoma to Richard Gus Jackson and Betty Lou Tippin both of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by his 6 children, Carole Mayabb and husband Daniel, Sandy Roberts and husband Bill, Susan Laubach and husband Mike, Patti Duran and husband Orlando, Cathi Mog and husband David, Robby Lane and fiancé Hollie. He has 13 grandchildren, Stacia, Andrew, Allie, Emma, Katie, Justin, Zachary, Tailor, Alix, Adam, Madison, Dustin and Dylan. Additionally, he has 11 great grandchildren, Cash, Tyler, Troy, Addison, Liam, Theo, Londyn, Charlotte, Hadley, River and Calloway.
Rick was a database manager at the FAA for over 30 years. He had a love of jet boats and has owned one since the 1960's. Rick continued to build and race his jet boat until the age of 82, never missing a Jet Fest. He was quite the handyman and could work on any house, car or boat. However, his affinity for race engines preceded all. He enjoyed fishing, shooting guns, flying model airplanes, dancing, but racing and working on cars and boats was his life's passion. Rick had a close group of lifelong friends he called the Fatboys with whom he stayed in touch regularly. Additionally, he had vast connections throughout all the racing circles in Oklahoma and the surrounding states. We were truly blessed to have such an adventurous man in all our lives and he will be greatly missed. Our memories will live on and on, but we take solace in that he is finally reunited with the love of his life.
Services for Rick Jackson will be held on September 28th, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Hahn Cook/Street & Draper located at 6600 Broadway Extension, Oklahoma City, OK, 73116. If you would like to make a donation in his honor in lieu of flowers, his favorite charities are Tunnel to Towers and Wounded Warriors.
