James Lawrence “Tex” Candler, 83 year-old resident of Yukon, Oklahoma, passed away November 25, 2014 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Born October 7, 1931 in Colorado City, Texas, he was the son of Lawrence Edward Candler and Addie Mae (Varbel) Candler. Tex was a longtime employee at O.G. & E. and had retired after 36 years. He was a member of the Woodland Baptist Church in Splendora, TX. Tex was a longtime Mason and had belonged to his Lodge for over 59 years. He loved to travel in his motorhome and had been all over the U.S. with any family member who wanted to go somewhere and had seen most of the lower 48 states several times. Tex loved spending time with his family and enjoyed fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Addie Candler and 1 sister, Bobbie Jean Lucas. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Grace Candler of Yukon, Oklahoma; 1 daughter, Linda and her husband Jerry Carter of Yukon, Oklahoma; 1 grandson, Jerry and his wife Daelina Carter, II of Yukon, Oklahoma; 1 great-granddaughter, Rylie Jordan Carter of Yukon, Oklahoma; 2 sisters, Eva Mae Mathis of The Woodlands, TX; and Jodi Fisher of Spring, TX; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel, 8805 NE 23rd St., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 73141 with Masonic Rites being held at the service.
