Rod was born on September 17, 1953 to HR and Sarah Joann Powers in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1972 and four years later founded Rod Powers Roofing Company. He Married Bernadette 1979 and they began building a life together . Rod will be remembered as a passionate family man. His children and grandchildren were among the greatest joys of his life. Rod would do just about anything to bring a smile to his children and grandchildren. He is known as a man of many friends whom he treated as family. Rod enjoyed years of coaching basketball and soccer and often said, “winning isn’t everything” although, everyone knew he always wanted to win.
Rod was a business owner for more than forty years. Beyond founding his roofing company he also started Oklahoma Coin Gold and Silver in 2000. A business that was born from his interest in coin collecting. His business success enabled him to travel with his family, which they did often.
He is survived by his wife Bernadette, Children Chris Powers, Shelby Morris and husband Justin, Brian Powers, Jessica Ford and husband Chad, grandchildren Ashli Powers, Devyn Powers, Romello Powers, Kylie Morris, Kamarionna Powers, Evan Morris, Knox Ford and two more on the way. Sister Wendee Roberts and husband Joe. Nieces Sara Hall and husband Brian, and son Rogan, and Emilee Roberts and daughter Rainee Ball and husband Ryan Ball and daughter Emilia Kate. He is preceded in death by his father, Howard Robert “HR” Powers and mother Sarah Joann Powers.
