Cynthia, I was so sorry to hear of your loss...Herb was a great guy!  The sympathy card I sent to you came back, but hopefully we can chat at a later time.

                                           Herbert Bradley, Nov 13, 1920 – Sep 21, 2012
Herb was my mentor, in Norman, at the CAF in the late 1970's. His dry wit made him a magnetic personality, which belied the fact that he was a B-24 bombardier in Europe—a very serious occupation for such a young man.  He showed me the value of hard work in the service of the organization.  He must have noticed I never forgot anything he taught me about WWII and the Army Air Corps. I was an student doctor and then an intern in Oklahoma City, and, after that, did pediatric residency in Tulsa.  Herb would stop and visit me at Osteopathic Hospital in Tulsa, as he traveled for Collegiate Cap and Gown. My father died before I graduated medical school; maybe that's why he took me under his wing. He wrote me a dozen times, always typed letters. People get a sense of who you are, and remember things you don't remember ever telling them.  I fell in with the CAF squadron in Tulsa, but continued to visit Herb when I was in OKC.  Went to a few Chistmas parties, and new a lot of the guys, but, for me, Herb and Cythia were the stars of the show. Was at his birthday when he fell backwards, into my arms. He wasn't hurt, but it was the beginning of his neuropathy.  Saw him twice in the nursing home, and always meant to come back more often. Heard of his death today, and something great has gone out of my world, leaving it a sadder place.  He is always in my thoughts, now in my prayers. There is no doubt we'll meet again in heaven.

Cynthia and Jan,
So many great memories of Herb. Even though you've been in Oklahoma City for over 50 years, I'll always think of the Bradleys as a major part of our lives in Monticello. That great little brick house with the big lawn. I'll always remember Grandma & Grandpa Walker staying in your guest house when they'd visit. Herb and Dad playing golf, going to Legion meetings, enjoying a cold one and telling stories, all great memories. I think the first time I remember Mom crying was when you had packed up ready to leave for OKC and said good bye in our kitchen on Stoddard Court. Jeannie, Amy and I are so glad we were able to visit with Herb one last time when we came to OKC last year. It was a great opportunity to reconnect and reminisce.
Herb was a proud Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and I am proud to have a signed copy of his book, Always Out Front. I'll miss his deep throaty laugh and sparkling eyes, but I know that he's already sitting down at the bridge table with Mom & Dad and a couple of good stories.

Dear Cynthia, Jan, and Family,
The Bradley's have always been dear friends of our family.  Even in childhood, I knew that Herb could light up a room with his robust energy, laughter, and story telling. Herb and Cynthia were some of our parents 1st friends when they moved to Monticello in 1948.  Herb helped my Dad build our home at 612 Stoddard Ct.in 1950.  They were also dedicated members of Roy Hamm Post #101, and their main mission was to honor those that served their country. We will never forget when you and Herb came to visit us while we were stationed in Germany.  Great memories of you both.  Herb will always make me smile. He's another Hero from our Greatest Generation.  Sending our love to all the family.

Dear Cynthia and Janny,
So glad we were able to visit with Cynthia and Herb two years ago.  Hard to believe that was already so long ago.  Life is fleeting.  Herb is now back to himself playing his trumpet again.  Mom and Dad are dancing on the dance floor.  Heaven is better than we can imagine.  So sorry for your loss of a great man and a great Airman; a patriot from the Greatest Generation.  Card coming your way from the Walker kids.

Cynthia and Janice,

God is good, and 'Herb' is now healthy and happy with our Father and those who left before him.  He was dedicated to all of his associates whether through civic groups, defending the country he loved or selling a choir robe, but most of all, 'Herb' loved you, his bride of 70 years, and his family.  Jim and I are keeping you in our prayers as we know you have been missing having him at home and will continue to do so now that he's passed our earthly boundaries.

Our sincere deepest sympathy goes out to the Bradley family. My father and mother  Edward & Margaret Carroll loved you dearly. You gave my Dad encouragement and words of wisdom during his time at Collegiate Cap & Gown Company. Thank you and  your beautiful wife for the time you spent with us sharing in my Dad's birthday celebration. RIP Mr. Bradley. We will miss you. SINCERELY THE CARROLL FAMILY
