Elijah described himself as “obscure, reticent, unfathomable, inscrutable, aloof, and enigmatic.” Those who knew him best would not disagree! However, they would also describe Elijah as an outside-the-box thinker who valued excellence and adamantly required all things to be done decently and in order.
Elijah spent his time doing calisthenics exercises, playing classical music on the piano, and online gaming with friends. His most recent passion was songwriting. He spent hours every day learning to master how to make the perfect song. Drawn to emo rap, Elijah enjoyed songs that had a sense of nostalgia. He also enjoyed cooking and creative writing, often journaling about his nightly dreams.
Elijah was a great accountability partner, often ensuring those around him pushed themselves to their limits. Though not the most gentle motivational speaker, he was wise beyond his years and always advised from a place of truth and love. He was a man of few words but enjoyed deep conversations that philosophized about the meaning of life.
One might think Elijah’s favorite color was red because he always wore his red jacket, no matter the weather or activity. However, his favorite color was blue or green, depending on the context. He was a night owl who enjoyed being awake between 1 AM and 5 AM. He appreciated the winter season and stormy weather. His typical diet included baked chicken, steamed rice, and steamed broccoli, though he also indulged in the occasional stuffed crust pizza topped with Alfredo sauce and Canadian bacon from Papa John’s or chicken Alfredo from Olive Garden. Sugar cookies and snow cones were his favorite treats.
Elijah was planning to graduate from Putnam City High School with the class of 2025. He intended to make post-graduation plans during the second half of his senior year. While we do not know what he would have accomplished post-graduation, we know he made a lasting impression on those around him, and his legacy will live on forever.
Although a self-proclaimed loner, Elijah is survived by his mother, Sayde Brooks, his grandparents, Samuel and Jane Brooks, and his aunt Jeanie Brooks, as well as countless family members and friends who will miss him greatly.
