Dorothy Mae (Crow) Houchin August 27, 1925 - January 20, 2018. Dorothy was born to Weber and Thelma Crow in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She graduated high school in Shawnee and began a career with Southwestern Bell before starting her family. She married Jack D. Houchin on December 20, 1948 at the Immanuel Baptist Church of Shawnee. They were married for 48 years until Jacks death in August of 1996. Dorothy becme a follower of Jesus Christ at the age of 25 and was a charter member of the Classen Blvd. Baptist Church of Britton, Oklahoma City. She taught children’s Sunday for 23 years and served in various ministries throughout her life time. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge located in Britton for 57 years. She and her husband lived in the Village since 1950 raising four children. Dorothy excelled as a Homemaker where she loved to cook and care of her family. She also loved growing a wide range of flowers in her back and front yard gardens. Dorothy loved the simple pleasures in life, sitting outside in the morning and enjoying the beauty of the many flowers that bloomed all around her. Most mornings the backyard turtle would find his way to the patio where Dorothy would have his breakfast fruit waiting for him. She loved playing table games like Wahoo and Mexican Train with her family and friends. Dorothy and Jack loved to RV throughout the U.S. making many life long friends at their favored campsites. She loved her Savior Jesus Christ and spent each morning in the Word of God and prayer and sharing the love of God with people she would meet along the way. Dorothy is survived by one daughter, Cindy Powell of the City; son Donald of the home; son David and Glenda of Mooreland, OK; son Randy and Louanne of San Antonio, TX and one sister, Shirley Ryan of Tulsa. 10 grandchildren and 10 greatgrand children. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack; her parents; three brothers Bunt, Raymond, Weber Jr.; one sister Venita Ailey; two sisters-in-law Dorothy and Ailene; and one brother-in-law Gary Ryan. Memorial gifts may be sent to the Classen Boulevard Baptist Church of Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be held 10:00am, Friday, January 26, 2018 at Classen Blvd Baptist Church, in OKC with graveside services to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
