She graduated high school from Putnam City High School of Oklahoma City. Her first job was at OG&E. Donna was united in marriage to Raymond Galen Heckard Sr. on September 1, 1961. She later became a homemaker and then went on to work at Pars Flowers. Donna later married William F. Frakes on October 14, 1974 and moved to Bondurant, IA in 1976. She worked at Casey’s General Store and Bondurant City Hall. While living in Bondurant she made many friends that she kept in contact with over the years.
When Donna moved back to Oklahoma City in 1984 and met her long-time companion, James Davis. With her time in Oklahoma, she spent 21years at Lincare as an accountant and later retired in 2006. Donna’s hard work ethic was always a part of who she was, but when she wasn’t working, you could always find her shopping, reading books, watching the University of Oklahoma Women’s Basketball, having lunch with her sister Wilma and friends, Judy and Sherry and of course caring for her many pets.
Donna raised two wonderful sons, Raymond and David Heckard, but her proudest moment was when she became a grandmother to her grandson, Justin. She also would not have lived the life she did had it not been spent with James Davis.
She is preceded in death by her father, Lovick Golman Cook; mother, Ellie Jane (Deckard) Cook; sister, Hilda Putnam and nephew, Keith Anneler.
Donna is survived by her sons, Raymond Galen Heckard Jr. and wife, Iryna Y. Rozenblit of Khmelnitsky, Ukraine, and David Allen Heckard and wife, Carmella of Prole, IA; sister, Wilma Smith of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchild, Justin Heckard; nieces, Ronna Anneler, Jan Anneler-Boyce, Sheila Loring and Amy Smith; nephew, Steve Anneler; companion, James Davis; and Iryna’s daughters, Yana and Maria.
Donna will be laid to eternal rest at a private service at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Oklahoma City, OK.
