Donna Beth Bowers passed from this earth to heaven on October 8th, 2020, due to a heart attack. Donna Beth was born May 12, 1942, in Lindsay, Oklahoma. Donna grew up in Oklahoma City, she graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1960. After graduation she married her high school sweetheart, Ronald Coy Bowers. They established a home in Yukon, Oklahoma, where they resided for 24 years. They raised two daughters, Ronda (Bowers) Morgan and Dustan Bowers.
Donna’s primary occupations were being a Beautician from her home in the center of Yukon for 25 years; working for the Salvation Army Senior Center at the First United Methodist Church in Yukon; and being the Director at the Daily Living Centers (Adult Daycare) 27 years in OKC where she celebrated her retirement recently.
Donna is preceded in death by her father, Jesse Lee Weaver; her mother, Eloise O’Neal, her brother, Bobby Lee Weaver, husband Ron Bowers and later in life her second husband, Doug Shields, as well as her cousin, Sug Winniford. She is survived by her daughters, Ronda (Bowers) Morgan and Dustan Bowers; her son-in-law, Phillip Morgan; granddaughters, CoryBeth Kuney (Jeffrey), Lacy Gibbon (Hunter), and Chelsea Morgan; brothers Chuck Kunhart (Carrie) and John Kunhart (Linda); her sister in law, Glenda McConnell, and step son Jon Shields, plus a host of cousins, family members, and friends at the Daily Living Centers, St. Luke’s United Methodist Church OKC, the Elks Lodge, Tarpley Tappers, Capitol Hill High School (1960) Alumni, the Mini Cooper Club, the United Way and the OKC Hospitality Club. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for November 14th to be held at the Daily Living Center of Oklahoma, 3000 N. Rockwell, Bethany, OK 73008 by invitation only, at 2pm. There will be a live streaming link posted for those who can’t attend in person on www.dlcok.org and on her Facebook page.
In Memoriam – a dedicated garden will be set up in front of the Daily Living Center in Bethany for Donna – please direct any donations for this garden (contributions of $40 or more will have brick with your name engraved on it for the garden or you can designate for a plant/tree) to Daily Living Centers, Jessica Clayton, President. For those who can’t attend the Celebration of Life, you are invited to attend the Memorial Garden dedication in the Spring where everyone can gather outside in the fresh air to honor Donna with the hobby she loved most, beautiful gardens.
