Don Ballard

He attended Deer Creek High School and later served in the United States Army. He was a member of the U.S. Army, 500th MI Brigade. He was a Vietnam veteran and spent 28 years serving his country before retiring as a Master Sergeant.

He was married to Yoko Ballard and they had four wonderful children together. Don enjoyed playing cards, especially Pitch, collecting coins and other trinkets, baking sweets, watching OU football and fishing.

Don is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Ollie (Hunter) Ballard, brothers John Henry “Jiggs” Ballard, Lawrence Ballard, Howard Ballard, Marvin Ballard, sisters Laverne Ballard Knight, Oma Mae Ballard Huggard Gustavson, Ollie Orianna Ballard Teal, and son Stephen Ballard

He is survived by his wife Yoko Ballard, sons Mark Ballard of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Robert Ballard of Horse Cave, Kentucky, daughter Kayleen Smith of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, brother Rowland Ballard of Granbury, Texas, sisters Wanda Ballard Moore of Huntsville, Alabama, Jane Ballard Compton of Picayune, Mississippi, and multiple grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.

A visitation for Don will be held Tuesday, October 19, 2021 from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 8701 Northwest Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK 73162. A memorial service will occur Wednesday, October 20, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home.

Don will be laid to rest in Fort Sill National Cemetery, 2648 N.E. Jake Dunn Road, Elgin, Oklahoma 73538.
