Dee was born to Dan and Lillie Erlewine in Newport, Arkansas on August 16, 1949. Dee grew up in the Oklahoma City area, graduating from Northwest Classen High School in 1967. Dee met the love of her life, Dennis Jackson Daniel, Sr., and the two were later married on February 23, 1973. Dee worked for Petroleum Information as a chief editor for 30 years before retiring. During retirement Dee went back to work, working part-time at the Oklahoma City Zoo for 5 years. Dee absolutely loved working at the zoo, and it was the perfect place for her because she got to meet and talk to new people several times a week - one of her favorite things to do! To know Dee was to love Dee. She was selfless, thoughtful, loving, and caring, always giving her all to her friends and family. She didn’t have a mean bone in her body.
Dee lived her life to the fullest and was constantly on the move! She had an uncanny ability to find happiness in her daily activities. She loved reading, watching murder mysteries, and working in her garden. However, there was nothing she loved more than her family. Dee and Dennis, Sr. raised their 2 children, Dixi Randall and Dennis Daniel, Jr., together until Dennis Sr.’s death in 2002. Her children were the apples of her eye. She was their biggest cheerleader in everything they did. The love she poured into her children shines bright in the loving people they have both grown to become.
The absolute joy of her life was her grandchildren and “GiGi” was her favorite title and role. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her grandchildren. She adored each and every one of her precious grandchildren until the second she left this earth. She loved birthday parties, family events, school programs, sporting events, concerts, and just watching her grandchildren do the things they love most. She made it a priority to spend time with each and every one of her grandchildren, developing special relationships with each one. GiGi was known to adorn her grandkids with candy, games, bubbles, toys, books, movies, etc. - the list was never-ending. She loved making her grandkids smile and she always went above and beyond to let them know how loved they were by her. She will always be remembered as the BEST mom and GiGi ever.
Dee was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Dennis Jackson Daniel, Sr.; her father, Dan Erlewine, and her mother, Lillie Erlewine. Dee’s departure from her earthly body was undoubtedly greeted with open arms by her Lord and Savior. However, the ultimate reunion was being reunited with her devoted and loving husband, Dennis, Sr., her mom, Lillie, and dad, Dan. It is certain the heavenly reunion involved them all grabbing their fishing poles and heading off to the lake like they always used to do.
Dee is survived by her children, Dixi Randall and husband Zachory of Edmond, Oklahoma; Dennis Daniel and wife Danielle of Edmond, Oklahoma; Grandchildren Jaxon Randall (19), Jude Randall (17), Jagger Randall (9), Jenner Randall (9), Kennedi Daniel (11), and Mackenzi Daniel (9); and Four sisters, Danette Intieri-Carpenter of Oklahoma City, Teresa Erlewine of Oklahoma City, Yvonne Geist of Oklahoma City, and Dwana Key of Rowlette, Texas.
Services will be held on Monday, June 20, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City. A brief viewing of the body is scheduled for the morning of the service from 9 AM to 10:45 AM.
A graveside service will follow where Dee’s earthly body will be permanently reunited with her husband, Dennis Sr., where she will finally be at peace, pain-free, and eternally next to the love of her life.
