David Charles Ferguson, 71, of Edmond, OK, passed away peacefully on December 4th, 2023, after a short battle with primary brain cancer. David was born in Pasadena, TX on March 20th, 1952, and resided in the northwest Oklahoma City/Edmond area for nearly 50 years.
In 1952, David was born to Charles Ferguson, Jr. and Violet Roe Schott and grew up in various towns across the state of Kansas. After graduating from Liberal High School in 1970, David attended college at Kansas University and completed his Marketing and Energy Management Bachelor’s degrees at the University of Oklahoma, with a focus in Petroleum Land Management. He later completed his MBA at Oklahoma City University. David worked in the Oil & Gas industry for over 40 years, and built successful land consulting companies, such as DCF Land, LLC, Royalty Advisors, LLC, and TXT Resources. He was an active member of AAPL, OCAPL and TAPL (petroleum landman associations). David proudly served in the U.S. Air Force at Tinker Air Force Base, holding the rank of Sergeant, upon his separation from the military.
David welcomed his first son, Tyler, in 1976, with his former wife, Sandy. He was married to Cheryl on April 14th, 1984. The newlyweds honeymooned in Hawaii and were fortunate to spend their 39th wedding anniversary there this past Spring. They welcomed their son, Brett, in 1986, and daughter, Marcie, in 1989.
David had a passion for his career, photography, traveling, and sports. Baseball became his favorite at an early age. He played for the Air Force league and helped coach Marcie’s competitive softball teams. His hobbies included cycling and fitness, landscaping, and weekends at Lake Eufaula with family and friends. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and was an avid OU Sooners, KC Chiefs, and OKC Thunder fan.
David is survived by his wife, Cheryl Ferguson; son, Tyler and Elizabeth Ferguson of Austin, TX; daughter, Marcie and Robert Brown of Edmond, OK; brother, Dan and Glenda Ferguson; brother, Stan and Anita Ferguson; sister, Patricia Sizemore; brother, Doug Miller; brother, Scott Miller; mother-in-law, Jo Robinson; sisters-in-law, Terri Pelley and Carla Terrell; and brothers-in-law, Mike Pelley and Don Terrell. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Jaedyn, Jack, Layla, Patrick, Henry and Bryson, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Ferguson, Jr.; mother, Violet Schott; son, Brett Ferguson; father-in-law, Carl Robinson; and brother-in-law, Kenny Sizemore.

Visitation will take place from 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Home in Oklahoma City. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, December 15, 2023 at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Home with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
