Connie was born to Ruth Leonard Nichols and Raymond Nichols in Weatherford, Oklahoma. She completed her education at Watonga High School where she met the love of her life, Harold Rue Myers. Together they had three handsome sons. They shared a lifetime of adventures, beginning with Harold’s service in the Navy, including time in Hawaii. This began a shared love of travel together throughout America and Europe.
After Harold’s service, they resided in Cherokee, Oklahoma where Connie sang in the choir at the Methodist Church. Later, they moved to Stillwater, where Harold worked at Oklahoma State University and Connie started the Welcome Wagon using her gift of hospitality. Harold and Connie were very active in the First Presbyterian Church of Stillwater with numerous friends. They also helped to form a Supper Club filled with lifelong friends.
Later, Harold accepted a position at the University of California. Connie continued her career at the Veterans Administration in Sacramento. They attended First Presbyterian Church of Sacramento, serving in many positions.
Upon their retirement they returned to Oklahoma, residing in Edmond to be near family and friends. Here Harold and Connie served in the First Presbyterian Church of Oklahoma City for many years, forming beloved friendships. They continued to travel but mainly enjoyed time with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Connie was able to use her many gifts to serve as President of the A.I Chapter of P.E.O., Secretary and Treasurer of Presbyterian Women, and Chairman of Priscilla Circle at First Presbyterian Church. She loved to play bridge, entertain, and host family gatherings. She was a famous cook.
Her love of Jesus showed in every aspect of her life. She was the epitome of elegance and grace.
Connie is predeceased in death by her mother and father, her brother Warren Nichols, and her sister Donna Beverly. She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Harold Rue Myers; their sons Mark and his wife Krista Myers, Tim and his wife Diann Myers, and Scott Myers; their grandchildren Michelle and her husband Matt Johnson, Katharyn and her husband Casey McCarty, Stephen and his wife Ally Myers, and David and his wife Kate Myers; their great grandchildren Jacqueline, Matthew, Sean, Lola Rose, Joanna, Nicholas, Jameson, Atlas, Bear, Benjamin, and Beckett; as well as other family members and dear friends.
Services will be held in the Chapel at First Presbyterian Church of Oklahoma City at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 24th, 2023. Interment to follow at Guthrie Cemetery in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
