After graduating from high school in Channing, Texas, he would move to Oklahoma City in 1966. He would go on to serve in the United States Army as a Radio TT Operator from 1967-1969, 10 months of which was served in Korea. After which he would continue to serve the community by working for the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff for 35 years.
On April 6, 1984, Colonel would marry Lori Rothner. The couple would share 38 wonderful years together, full of love and laughter. Angela, Michael, Anthony, and Brandon will forever be changed by their Dad’s absence, but their love will forever remain. Colonel could be described as a simple man, who enjoyed the good things in life. For him, nothing was better than sitting on the deck at his lake house on a quiet morning, a cup of coffee in hand, his puppy in his lap, watching the hummingbirds, and listening to the fish jump in the water.
Colonel was an honorary member of The Fraternal Order of Police, as well as serving as a church deacon; but more than anything, he loved his family. A wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, he will leave a huge hole in many hearts. But the wonderful memories that he made with his family and friends will last forever.
Colonel is preceded in death by his siblings Richard Miller, Walter Hall, Ernest Miller, Goldie Miller, JoAnn Chase (Hall), Betty Harper (Hall), and Sue Hutchison (Hall).
To cherish his memory he leaves behind his wife, Lori Miller; children Angela Dawn Miller of Goldsby, Oklahoma, Michael Dwayne Miller of Oklahoma City, Anthony Kyle Miller of Norman, Oklahoma, and Brandon Chase Miller of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren: Ashley Sullivan, Brittnea Walters, Tyler Miller, Kolyn Miller, and Asher Miller; six great-grandchildren: Gage Rawlings, Piper Sullivan, Willow Sullivan, Journey Spoonmore, Jayden Spoonmore, and Liliana Walters; eleven nieces, nine nephews; and his sweet puppy Schotsy.
The family would also like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Life Springs Hospice for their dedicated care of Colonel.
A memorial service in honor of Colonel’s life will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 8701 N.W. Expressway, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73162.
