He attended Blanchard High School and left early to join the Army, serving in the Korean War with close friends Paul Richey and Billy Baston. After returning from his military service, he proudly graduated from Blanchard High School.
Tom had several careers during his working years including working as a police officer and fireman at Tinker AFB. He also worked various jobs at General Motors from 1979-2002 with his favorite being an inspector in quality control along with his good friend Richard Laskey. Tom enjoyed being a grandpa, riding and raising horses, raising Labrador puppies, and growing okra to share with friends. Tommy was a very loving, caring, and gentle man. He loved everyone, had no enemies, and was always willing to help others.
Tom is preceded in death by parents, Doc and LaVada Bowling; brother, Joe Bowling; sisters, Helen Alberti, Betty Harmon; baby son, Randall Lee Bowling; and cousin Roland Bowling.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Daisy Bowling; daughters Charla Smith and husband Darrell Hill, and Linda Darlene Beaty; special nieces, Mary Jo Armstrong, Brenda Price, Ladonna Smith, and Theresa Robinson. Also surviving are grandchildren, Russell Wood, Randy Wood, Rodney Hager, Lisa Walden, Julie Treadwell, Steven McDonald; and great-grandchildren, Lane Wood, Taylor Wood, Robbie Wood, Landen Wood; great-great grandchildren, Tillie Wood and Reydon Wood; stepdaughters, Kimberly Benton and husband Bruce, Tamara Webb and husband Gary; stepsons, John Story and wife Tammy, Tim Cloyd and wife Elsie; step granddaughter, Hailee Turner; step grandsons, Curtis Benton, Mason Story, Gage Story, Grant Story, Chance Webb, Riley Webb; and sisters-in-law, Martha McMunn, Mary Bowling; brothers-in-law, Lewis Watson and wife Mary, Jim Watson and wife Janice, Glenn Watson and wife Donna Junkerman; and a host of friends and other relatives.
A visitation for Clifton will be held Thursday, July 6, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 8805 NE 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73141. A funeral service will occur Friday, July 7, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Blackburn Cemetery in Norman, OK.
