Clara Nell (Wade) Marshall was born February 28, 1937 in Lee county Alabama to John Hilyard Wade and Maggie Hortense (Clegg) Wade. She grew up in Opelika, Alabama and attended Beauregard High School. She was active in 4H and was a talented seamstress, winning several State Fair awards, and later making many of her daughters’ clothes and constructing countless barbie doll outfits. After graduating high school, she attended business school and ultimately moved to Ft. Worth, Texas working for General Dynamics Ft. Worth Aircraft Plant. There she met and married Air Force Master Sergeant John Henry Marshall. They were married on January 12, 1962, living in the Ft. Worth, TX area, and moving to Lake Charles, LA, El Reno, OK, and settling in Midwest City, OK.
Nell and John raised 3 daughters in Midwest City, Karen, Sharon, and Debra. Nell was employed at McDonalds, Western Electric and she retired from her position at Tinker Air Force Base in 1985. Nell and John were active members of Meadowood Baptist Church for many years. Nell loved to do crafts, grow flowers, and travel. She toured London, France, Germany, and Switzerland with her youngest daughter Debra’s high school language club. After retirement, Nell and John traveled extensively across this country, visiting relatives, friends, and their oldest daughter Karen who was a traveling nurse. They went to see several National parks and cruised to Alaska and the Caribbean together. After John’s death in 1993, Nell enjoyed several memorable trips. A visit to Virginia and Washington D.C. to visit Sharon’s family and a cruise to Nassau Bahamas with 4 of her grandchildren and her daughter Sharon and son-in-law Chuck. A visit to California with her cousin Brenda and sister Jane to visit her daughter Karen. One adventure included renting a convertible for a trip with Brenda and Jane! Her last big trip was in 2017 with Debra’s family to see her brother Larkin, sister Jane, sister- in-law Mary, and extended family.
Her true passion was her family. She was a devoted Mother, involving her daughters in piano, dance, choir, and band. She was ever present and supportive to her 7 grandchildren and adored her 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years John, her Mother and Father, brother Robert, sister-in-law Mary and brother-in-law Bud. She is survived by her sister Jane Lewis, brother Larkin Wade (Pat), cousin Brenda Hart, daughter Karen Marichal, daughter Sharon (Chuck) Boso, daughter Debra (Ron) Harshaw, grandchildren Cale Boso (Chantel), Taylor Boso, Kari Tiffany (John), Cassady Boso, Ryan Harshaw (Kyndra), Witney Harshaw, and Dustin Harshaw (Taylor), her 11 great-grandchildren, her extended family including her nieces and nephews and their families.
She will be greatly missed but we rejoice in her healing and presence in heaven with our Lord Jesus Christ.
