Christie Jo Reichel, 72, passed away on September 1, 2014 in Oklahoma City. She was born April 7, 1942 in Canton, Ohio to Donald and Virginia (Lawson) Paris. Graduating from Massillon Washington High School and Kent State University with a degree in education, Christie began her teaching career in Greentown, Ohio as a second grade teacher. She held this position for a number of years before retiring to her first love, wife and full time mother. In 1964, she married John Reichel. Together, they celebrated fifty years of marriage on July 25th of this year. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Gretchen and Mollie Kate. The family relocated to Oklahoma City in 1986 as the result of John's promotion with Fleming Foods. Christie worked at the Warr Acres Library for 15 years forming many friendships with staff and patrons. Christie enjoyed quilting, needlepoint, sewing and gardening. Becoming a Grandmother in 2003 and again in 2006, Christie turned to her sewing machine, producing a seemingly endless stream of exquisite doll clothes. Though sewn mostly for her granddaughter, she donated items to the school's Christmas store. The donated items were highly sought out and had a very short shelf life. Christie is survived by her husband of 50 years, John; daughters and sons in law, Gretchen and Rob Miller of Oklahoma City, Mollie and Brent Raymond of Oklahoma City, brother and sister-in-law Michael and Kathy Paris of Canton, Ohio; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Julie and Rod Ellis of Massillon, Ohio; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jeffery and Diane Reichel of Galena, Ohio. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 6th at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 8701 NW Expressway, Oklahoma City.
