Charles Herman Smith, Sr., August 9, 1920 – June 22, 2012 passed away at his home in Choctaw, OK. He was born in Elmira, New York to Elmer M. Smith and Maize M. Purvis-Smith-Bohart. Charles served in the U.S. Navy Sea Bees in the Pacific during WW II as Machinist Mate 3rd Class. Charles married Maida Lois Gunn on April 28, 1945 in Mt. Pleasant, TX. He worked at Tinker and retired in 1975. Charles was a member and attended Bethel Baptist Church in Choctaw. He is predeceased by his parents; stepfather Harry Bohart; 5 sisters; 2 brothers; daughter Betty Smith-Brown, and grandson, Johnny T. Brown, Jr. He is survived by his wife Lois; daughter Letha and husband Tim Tidwell; son Charles Jr., son James and wife Jackie Smith, son John and wife Sheryl Smith; daughter Faye and husband Don Goodson; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; brother Jack Bohart and sister Jeannie Bohart. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Funeral Home Chapel, 8805 NE 23rd St., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with burial to follow at Arlington Memory Gardens.
