Brian Keith Shattuck

Brian Keith Shattuck, 53, of Choctaw Oklahoma, passed away November 23rd in Oklahoma City with his wife by his side.

He was born on May 3, 1970, in Alma, Michigan, to Mary Beth Shattuck Grover and Larry Shattuck.

Brian liked to talk about his "personal orchard" of fruit trees in the front yard of their Michigan home.

When Brian was young, the family left Michigan and headed west, settling in the mountain town of Dayton, Wyoming. He spent time with his cousins finding ways to get into mischief and hiding from Uncle Mutt and eating Aunt Vi's treats. Brian spent much of his youth between Dayton and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

His time in Pittsburgh forged Brian's love for all Pittsburgh sports — Pitt basketball and football, the Pirates, the Penguins ... and Brian's beloved Pittsburg Steelers. He also found a mentor and a friend in Dr. William Futrell, who would spend many years with Brian and be a big encouragement to Brian throughout his life.

After high school, Brian set his sights on Oklahoma Baptist University. During his time at OBU, Brian played on the school's championship basketball team. Brian always had a story to tell about his time in college. One of the favorites was trashing all the dirty dishes and buying new ones because some girls were coming over.

He graduated from OBU and used his degree for a time then, Brian found his true calling working with his hands and keeping large equipment operating, and he took up a new career in the oilfield.

His career spanned time with Cyclone Drilling, Unit, Chesapeake/No Mac and Patterson, to name a few.

There are many stories of his work with "Big James" and close friends Courtney, Chris and many others he became close to.

If Brian wasn't cheering for a Pittsburgh team, he was cheering for Michigan and Booing OU.

Brian enjoyed getting into sporting conversations with his brother-in-law Clayton and his brothers Jesse and Bubba Reust and anyone else who would listen.

In 2010, Haley Reust, Jesse's wife, played matchmaker and introduced Brian to his future wife, Shannamay. He proposed to her a year later, and on Feb. 10, 2012, they were married in Oklahoma.

The couple soon moved to Gillette, Wyoming, where they lived for six years and met many dear friends.

In 2018, the oilfield took them back to Oklahoma, and their prayers for a family were answered. Sullivan Stone Shattuck was born in January of 2020 and 20 months later Sheridan Angilene Shattuck would complete their hearts.

Anyone who ever met Brian grew to love him.

No one loved or encouraged him like his mother. His mother, Mary Beth, instilled in him a strong work ethic and determination, teaching him that while life is hard, it shouldn't be a stumbling block. Brian's Uncle Mutt and Uncle Darrell taught him about fixing old trucks, woodworking, and the art of negotiation. Brian had a love for unique rocks which is a love he shared with his Dad. Brian also loved and looked up to his “little” sister Stephany, whom he enjoyed pestering often. He loved getting to be “Unc the punk” to his two nephews James Brian and Wyatt and enjoyed his time with them as they grew up.

Brian was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal Grandparents, numerous Aunts and Uncles, Cousins, and Friends.

Brian is survived by his wife Shannamay, his son Sullivan and his daughter Sheridan of the home. His mother Mary Beth, of Gillette; his sister Stephany Titus, her husband James Titus and Nephews James Brian and Wyatt of Gillette; his father Larry Shattuck of Hot Springs South Dakota; and many relatives and friends too numerous to mention but each very much loved.
