Brenda was born on June 21st, 1944 in Columbus, Georgia to parents Lloyd and Ruby Smith. Her father was an officer in the military and she was a wife of a soldier, so she had the opportunity to live in a multitude of places, such as Germany, Hawaii, New York, and Texas before returning to and finally settling in Oklahoma. In Brenda’s earlier years she attended Oklahoma City University receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Education. Following this she had a lengthy career as a teacher for Oklahoma City Public Schools from which she retired.
Brenda enjoyed music and artists like Elvis and The Beach Boys, but was also a fan of country. Above all else, family was the most important to Brenda, and she instilled this in them as well. She loved gathering together with her entire family over a meal and spending time together, especially for holidays.
Brenda is survived by her husband of 32 years, Will Beddoe; Children, David L. Hanigar and wife Kimberly of Shawnee, OK, Tracy Tyberg of Edmond, OK, Danny Hanigar of Edmond, OK, Doug Hanigar and wife Heather of Sun Prairie, WI; Grandchildren in order of age, Allison, Darian, Chasity, Kyla, Dagan, Bailee, Ben, Grace, Hannah, and Natalee; Great-Grandchild, Bryson; As well as many nieces and Nephews.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Ruby Smith, and her brother Robert Smith.
A visitation will be held for Brenda on Thursday, September 29th, 2022 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, September 30th, 2022 at Midwest City Free Methodist Church located in Midwest City, Oklahoma with a meal to follow at the church.
