Our Family Rock, Betty L. Messick-Kirschner, went to be with the Lord on December 31, 2021. She was an inspiration to everyone that met her and her smile and compassionate nature touched us all. Our Mom grounded us and she never wavered having to raise us after our Dad passed. She could orchestrate a 12-course meal to be served hot promptly at Noon to making sure we had everything possible to become responsible adults (seriously, she held the reigns tight!).
Mom was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Messick, 2nd husband Bob “PaPa” Kirschner, her brother Bobby Farar, and her sister Alma. She is survived by her best friend and daughter, Tracey Raymond and her husband, Jim Burwell, her identical twin sons Mark Sikes and his wife Kathy, Mike Sikes and his wife Vicki, her youngest son, Jerry Messick and his wife Kristin, as well as Wanda McCreedy, her sister.
Mom loved being with her grandkids, Michael Sikes and his wife Shaley, Matthew Sikes and his wife Jill, Jonathan Messick, and Joseph Messick. Her two great-grandchildren, Nick and Autumn, were treasures in her life.
The family wishes to thank Katherine Atkison and Rose Haynes for the love, compassion, and advocacy they brought to our Mothers life. Katherine and Rose, you made such an incredible difference and brought joy and comfort to Mom. We love you and thank you from the bottoms of our hearts.
While we will miss her dearly, we know she is in a much better place. We ask for any donations to go to the Alzheimer’s Association so we can help eliminate this pain from others' lives.
