Alvin was born in Coalgate, Oklahoma on May 4, 1942, to Bertlo Benjamin Lambert and Arlie O’Deat (Ennis) Lambert. He graduated from Coalgate High School in 1960, then served in the US Navy until 1964. Alvin loved the Lord above all. He was a devoted member of the Primitive Baptist Church all his life and became a deacon at the Oklahoma City Bethlehem church in 1988. His family, including his church family, meant the world to him, and he adored his grandchildren above all. He will be remembered for his patient kindness, ever-readiness to help others, and mischievous sense of humor. Vacations, reunions and holiday gatherings with extended family were his favorite times. He was also known for his love of cars and speed. Nieces and nephews recall fond memories of racing up and down Coalgate’s Main Street in Uncle Alvin’s fast car. But when he met the girl of his dreams he sold his motorcycle to pay for a wedding and married Judy Zane Herrington on June 18, 1966. In 1972, they moved to Oklahoma City where they raised three sons: Bruce, Bryan and Benjamin. Alvin worked as a diesel mechanic for many years, then as a self-employed automotive mechanic. The couple retired to Blanchard in 2002 where Alvin enjoyed spending his days outdoors, taking long walks on his acreage, gardening and completing many automotive projects with his longtime friend Troy Mangham.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Arlie Lambert; brothers, Willis Lambert and Billy Lambert; and sisters, Marie Davenport, Fay Fulton and Freida Guinn.
He is survived by his wife Judy and son Ben; son, Bryan and wife Tronia; and grandchildren, Jasmine, Hannah, Joshua, Chazzie and Bianca; son, Bruce and wife Dawn; and grandchildren, Bailey, Brad, Brandon, Elizabeth, Brooke and Belinda. He also leaves behind a host of beloved relatives and friends who will miss him sorely, yet find comfort in the knowledge that he now resides in his heavenly home at perfect peace.
A graveside service is to be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 21, at the Blanchard Cemetery in Blanchard, OK. Flowers may be sent to Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 8805 NE 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73141.
