R. Scott Roof age 66, of Black Lake, NY passed away unexpectedly Friday, August 16, 2024, at home. A celebration of life will take place at Bella-Brooke Winery located at 2989 CR-6 Hammond NY 13646 on August 24th, 2024 from 4-8pm. All are welcome. An additional celebration of life will take place at Ale "n" Angus located at 238 Harrison St, Syracuse, NY 13202 on September 6, 2024 from 5-8pm . Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fox & Murray Funeral Home.
Scott was born May 31, 1958 in Syracuse, NY to Raymond C. Roof and Judith (Gronau) Lehman. He graduated from Phoenix Central School and earned an Associate’s Degree before embarking on a career in Information Technology as a Systems Analyst, working for various companies over the years.
A devoted fan of the New York Islanders and Syracuse Crunch, Scott was a season ticket holder for the Crunch for over 20 years. After retirement, he relocated up to Black Lake where his family had been camping for over 60 years. Scott was an avid fisherman and devoted as much time on the lake as possible. He stayed busier than ever, serving as Vice President of the Black Lake Association, contributing to water quality testing and sending samples to St. Lawrence University. Scott cherished his involvement with Jerry’s Run each year, also serving as the Vice President.
Scott was a devoted and loving father and was extremely proud of Allison and her accomplishments, and loved spending time with her and his granddog Bruin.
Scott is survived by his mother, Judith Lehman of Zephyrhills, FL; his daughter, Allison Roof of Cicero, NY; his brothers, Timothy (Treava) Roof of Zephyrhills, FL, Steven (Ellen Whitmarsh) Roof of Hammond, NY, and Todd (Jeanne) Roof of Brewerton, NY; his ex-wife, Jill Simons- Roof of Cicero, NY; his step children and step grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father, Raymond Roof, and his stepfather, Larry Lehman.
