Funeral services for George "Steve" Joanette Sr. age 54 of the English Settlement Road Ogdensburg, will be held on Thursday (Aug 2, 2012) at 10:00am at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Burial will follow the service at Notre Dame Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday (Aug 1, 2012) from 2-4 & 6-8pm at the funeral home. Mr. Joanette passed away on Saturday July 28, 2012.
Surviving is his wife MaryBeth Joanette; his mother Cora Louise Joanette; eight sons George Jr. & his wife Tricia, Joseph Joanette, Jacob Joanette, Jordon Joanette, Eric Robinson, Jared Joanette, Jase Joanette and Javen Joanette all of Ogdensburg; three daughters Diane “Dee” Brooks and her husband Amos Jr., Nichole Carter & her husband Fred and Christina Joanette all of Ogdensburg; brothers Thomas Joanette & his wife Carol, Allen Joanette & his wife Kim & Kevin Joanette all of Ogdensburg; a sister Vicky Warren of Canton; 14 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles & cousins.
His father George A. Joanette and a brother Gary R. Joanette predeceased him.
George was born on April 26, 1958 in Ogdensburg, NY, a son of George A. & Cora Lee (Dings) Joanette. He attended Ogdensburg Free Academy for his education, and later received his general education diploma. His first marriage to Terry L. Carpenter on November 12, 1977 ended in divorce, and later married Mary Beth Robinson on September 13, 1997. During his career he was employed at the Chicago Mines as a miner, McLear’s as a groundsman, Trevilino Bakery as a baker and later owned and operated Joanette’s Home Repair construction business until he retired due to poor health.
He was a member of the Ogdensburg Moose Lodge and the NYS Snowmobile association and enjoyed camping, 4-wheeling, motorcycling, yard work, traveling and spending time with his family.
