Calvin J. LaBarge

Funeral services for Calvin J. LaBarge, age 83 of State Hwy 68 Ogdensburg, will be held at 11:00am on Saturday (Aug 30, 2014) at the First Congregational Church in Ogdensburg with Pastor David Hart officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Foxwood Memorial Park.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mr. LaBarge passed away Wednesday (Aug 27, 2014) at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Surviving is his wife Rachael; a son Joseph LaBarge & his companion Destiny Eastman; a daughter Darlene Winters & her husband Roger all of Ogdensburg; three grandchildren Patricia Elliott & her husband Christopher, Sandra Henderson & her husband Coy and Zack LaBarge; four great-grandchildren Tyana Elliott, Baylee Elliott, Claire Henderson and Bryce Henderson along with several nieces, nephews & cousins.

A granddaughter Diane Perrault; three brothers Gilbert, Harley & Kenneth LaBarge and three sisters Ida Mae Breckenridge, Marie McDermit & Harriett France predeceased him.

Calvin was born on December 21, 1930 in Lisbon NY a son of the late Joseph C. & Edith (VanHyning) LaBarge. He attended local country schools for his education and later married Rachael A. Marshall at the First Congregation Church in Ogdensburg on October 25, 1952.

During his career he was employed at Dolph Healey Meat Packing Co., Standard Shade Roller, Foremost Dairies, owned and operated his own farm for a period, and was an international Longshoreman. In 1968 he then became employed with the NYS DOT in Ogdensburg working as a laborer, truck driver and later retiring in 1988 as a welder.

Calvin was a member of the St. Lawrence Power Squadron, Ogdensburgh-Acacian Masonic Lodge #128, The First Congregation Church in Ogdensburg and a past member of the Ogdensburg Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodcarving, mowing lawns, camping, traveling, having coffee with friends, gardening, bingo and spending time with his family.
